You know that place between sleep and awake; That place where you can still remember dreaming? That’s where I will always love you. That’s where I will always be waiting.

But in truth books have no owner. Every book you see here has been somebody’s best friend.

If I were to have children, I’d want the cliché expectations for them that most of us seem to possess – I’d want them to have the opportunities that I did not.
I want to see the world one day, and I want them to travel alongside me. Yes, I’ll gladly tolerate the whining about long plane rides and relentless turbulence, because shortly after, their eyes will light up as they come across places they have never been. They’ll be jumping on hotel beds with excitement and taking pictures in front of odd buildings that will one day mean more to them than they’ll know at the moment.
I won’t make them play instruments and sports if they don’t wish to, but I’ll want to make sure their imaginations never stop thriving and that their bodies stay active. That’s what museums, parks, and camping trips are for.
If my children were to ever misbehave [which I’m sure they will if they’re anything like I was], I’ll make a silent oath to always keep my words three steps ahead of my hands, because I never want to be the reason they flinch when someone’s hands move towards them.
And if my children were to fall in love, I’d hope that they never try to seek my consent, but harness and realize my better judgement if I sense that the love they seek is only seeking to love them any less than entirely.
